How do you store a canoe vertically?
Ideally it is best to store canoes upside down with the gunwales resting on trestles or suspended on wooden bars. If the trestles or bars are not level the canoe will eventually adopt a twist. However this can usually be rectified by levelling the trestles/bars and the canoe will settle back to correct shape.
Can you store a canoe upright?
Standing it up on one end. Hanging it from its grab handles or thwarts. Laying it down on its side on a flat surface for long periods of time. Storing it near a significant heat source like a furnace or water heater.

Simply rinsing your paddle with fresh water will prolong the paddles life. If there are moving parts, like our adjustable length inserts, take it apart, rinse gently, let it dry and replace the insert into the shaft. Leave the lever open when storing your adjustable length paddle.

Is it bad to store kayaks vertically?
Don’t store your kayak upright or upside down. Upright (as if you were floating in it) will place the full weight of the kayak to rest on the hull causing it to warp. Upside down will place the weight on the bow and stern, or on other parts of the kayak that stick out.

What do you coat a canoe paddle with?
Even if your oiled paddle is only used once in a year, we recommend you oil your paddle at the begining and end of every season at minimum, or as needed. You may use a fine marine tung oil product like Behr or boiled linseed oil.
How do you finish a wooden canoe paddle?
Touch Up: seal any exposed wood with varnish on a regular basis. Lightly sand area, apply a diluted (by 10%) coat of finish and let dry. Lightly sand area again and apply a full strength coat of varnish. Complete Refinish: strip all finish off the paddle using sand paper.
How should paddles be stored?
Kayak paddles should be stored disassembled with the blades up. That’ll allow for any water to drain out. We recommend storing your kayak paddles either inside a heated garage or inside your house, if possible.
